THIS = TRUTH
AMEN
detroitgorilla:

I think it is safe to say that at 15, Blowout is at a crossroads.
Nothing demonstrated that more clearly for me than escaping the Kim Fowley show at PNA and going to Phantasmagoria. The former was embarrassing. He may have had talent or even still have — but performance was indulgent and sad as oft competent musicians jammed like the worst high school stoners you can recall.
The latter at times over indulges too - with instrumental pieces that don’t play to their strengths. But their music is vital and draws a crowd that actually wants to hear the songs while the last gasp of blowouts past was merely tolerated while people waited for the Dirtbombs, perhaps the last group of that era that bothers to respect it’s audience and themselves by creating new and relevant music.
Lest you think I’m merely ageist, grasping at the next big thing, review the previous posts and struggle to find an act that is closer to 20 than 40.
The point is, respect your audience, entertain them rather than merely showing up and getting by on what was or relation to a scene that’s past.
At Blowout, no one came to see you, they came to have fun, love music and party — if you can’t relate — get out the way.

As soon as I got my workstation reconfigured, I ran on Tumblr to see what bandcamphunter had reported. He/She/They did not disappoint. This is a great way to break in the new office space:

Try adding some bass to this. It makes for an interesting listen.
